Frequently Asked Questions
What paper do you use?
Our card stock (for our notecards) and our paper (for our letter-writing sets) are different.
Our card stock is a 300gsm card stock – nothing fancy, but fountain pen friendly and lovely to write on.
Our paper, on the other hand, is our special product and one we're quite excited by. It took months of research and testing to find the right raw products. (Al still cringes when he thinks about how much money was spent on paper that's now just sitting around our house.) You can read more about it here.
Is your paper truly fountain pen friendly?
Yes!
Well, we've tested our paper with some of our messiest inks and juiciest nibs – a Good Blue flex nib with J. Herbin's Emeraude de Chivor, for example – and so far it has held up to everything we've thrown at it.
If you try a particularly remarkable combination and the paper doesn't like it, please get in touch so we know. We will also give you a full refund!
What fountain pens do you recommend?
One of the joys of fountain pens is exploring and discovering the pen(s) that work for you. Everyone has certain brands and models they're particularly fond of - Tom loves his Kawecos, Al loves his Pilots, and both of us share a love for Pelikans, for example.
If you want some help picking out your first / second / third / tenth fountain pen, drop us a line and Al will be happy to talk you through some options.
What packaging do you use?
We try to avoid using plastic wherever possible. We have to use plastic vials for our ink samples, but all of our 'plastic' packaging is actually biodegradable - you can even chuck it in your compost!
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
We ship using Royal Mail 48. Please bear in mind that it's a two-person operation currently, everything is produced to order, and we do have jobs!
I'm not happy with my order.
We're disappointed to hear that. Please get in touch and let us know what's wrong.
If our paper hasn't held up to your fountain pen ink, send us a photo of the paper failure with details of the pen/ink - we'll give you a full refund.
